Demnach dürfte also Safari als einziger das richtig interpretiert haben und den Buchstaben die Farbe Transparent gegeben haben, gem CSS3-Standard.
Die anderen Browser unterstützen anscheinend diesen Standard noch nicht vollständig, weshalb dies auch nicht ausgegeben wurde, und für die Schriftfarbe die Normale Farbe verwendet hat. IE 7 unterstützt CSS3 überhaupt nicht!
Warum von vBulletin aus dieser Style standardmäßig als Transparent verwendet wird, ist mir auch nicht ganz klar.
Zumindest hab ich wieder was dazu gelernt, die Mac user sind der Welt einfach voraus
